HostCommando Shutting Down Effective 1st April 21/02/2012 05:13 Dear HostCommando Customers, Thank you for your business in the last 3 years, we hope that to some extent we were able to meet your hosting requirements. It has become clear to us that the web hosting business is not something we want to be in for the long term. It's complicated, has lots of competition, and we also do not have the skills and resources to run a web hosting company. After much internal discussion, we have decided to shut down HostCommando effective 1st April 2012. All clients will receive ONE MONTH free hosting from 1st March - 31st March 2012, enough time for you to find a new hosting company and move your sites as well as domain names. All current PayPal subscriptions have already been cancelled to avoid future payments. If you have paid Quarterly / Yearly / Triennally, you will be refunded prorata up to February 29, 2012. Please follow this short guide to facilitate your transfer of sites. Step 1: Do a Complete cPanel Backup Do a complete complete cPanel backup and download the backup to your computer. Please follow this article for instructions: http://www.hostcommando.com/account/knowledgebase.phpbaction=displayarticleid=12 Step 2: Get a New Web Hosting Account Altough there are many choices in getting a new web hosting account, we recomend either HostGator or BlueHost. Your new hosting company should be able to transfer your websites for you at no additional cost if you cannot do Step 1 above. Step 3: Transfer Your Domain Name You will have to transfer your domain name to your new hosting provider. To do that please follow the instructions in this article to get your EPP code: http://www.hostcommando.com/account/knowledgebase.phpbaction=displayarticleid=11 If you want to transfer your domain name to an independent domain registrar instead of to your new hosting company, we recommend using NameCheap. Step 4: Submit Cancellation Request Once you have moved your website and domain name to a different provider, please submit a cancellation request, as explained here: http://www.hostcommando.com/account/knowledgebase.phpbaction=displayarticleid=13 If you have paid quarterly, yearly or triennially, please contact us after you have submitted a cancellation request. Please provide us with your PayPal email address so we can send you your refund. Cancellation Deadline We're giving you ample time - more than 30 days - to safely find a new web hosting account and move your sites as well as domain names. We're also giving you 30 days free hosting to compensate for this activity, and we'll also be refunding any long terms you have made that cover periods of service after February 2012. After 31st March, we'll be completely shutting down. Your hosting accounts will no longer be accessible after we have shut down and terminated our servers. So please start your transfer process as soon as possible.
